About Us

Hello! I’m Jane, owner of Wags to Riches. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to introduce myself.

Like most in my profession, I’ve always had a great love and desire to spend my professional life caring for and working with animals. I was fortunate to land an after school dream job as a bather…which developed into an apprenticeship. Six years later, at the grand old age of 20, I opened JANE’s K-9 Grooming in Lexington, Kentucky. I sold the business 3 years later to pursue motherhood.

After a 14 year recess to raise my 3 wonderful children – Carry, Rice and Andrew - I returned to grooming at an animal hospital in Orlando. During the next 8 years I dabbled in grooming competitions. My first major tournament resulted in 4 wins: 1st place, Best Groomed Dog, Best All Around Groomer and a 2nd place win. It was very exciting! However, competition takes up a lot time; time that I would rather devote to my clients. Also during this stage of my career, I was encouraged to pursue National Certified Master Groomer certification. I decided to take on this difficult task (visit our section on certification) and am now a proud member of the National Dog Groomers Association of America. I’ve had the good fortune of working with some of the world’s most renowned groomers.

I couldn’t seem to get away from grooming long enough to follow my first passion – becoming a veterinarian (but that’s another story). So in 1997 I bought a little place in Casselberry called Annette’s Pets and changed the name to Wags to Riches because that’s how I wanted my little friends to feel when they left my shop. In August of 2006, we moved to our present location in Longwood.

I consider it a privilege to care for your beloved four-legged family members. Thank you for your continued trust.

See you at the other END of the WAG, that’s the RICHES…

My name is Andrea. I began grooming professionally in 2003. Upon graduation from high school I moved to Chicago Illinois, where I attended school and began my grooming apprenticeship.

My grooming mentor taught "Quality over Quantity". This is the motto by which I work today. I give every client the quality time necessary to make them look and feel the best I possibly can. After 3 years of grooming in Chicago my heart strings were tugging me home. I felt the need to move back to Florida. Returning allowed me to once again be close to my family.

Upon my return to Florida, I began working as a groomer at an Orlando area Animal Hospital and continued to not only groom but learned to observer each client for potential health risks. With the wide variety of Vet clients I expanded my grooming skills and techniques as well as learned to groom cats and exotic animals including but not limited to rabbits, birds and monkeys.

After my first year with the Vet, I was offered a Trainer’s position. Upon acceptance of this position, I began training birds and dogs. This position taught me to recognize the kinds of behaviors that could potentially cause me or an animal harm. In turn I became a safer and more relaxed groomer. In addition to expanding my knowledge of my clients by taking on the Trainer position, I was also provided the opportunity to further my grooming skills. I took the exams required to become a Certified Groomer. I am currently certified in all three grooming categories and well on my way to becoming a Master Groomer.

My next career move brought me an opportunity of a life time, which was to open and manage a new grooming salon. As it turns out my true desire is to work directly with the clients. My true calling is as a groomer, not a manager, which brought me to Wags to Riches.

My most recent career move in 2010 placed me where I feel my grooming skills and love for animals are best utilized. I am in my element at Wags to Riches. I am truly excited and very proud to be a staff member of such a great company. The positive work environment, friendly atmosphere and the talented staff members of Wag to Riches certainly promises a long term and truly pleasurable career home for me.

I eagerly look forward to the opportunity to meet and get acquainted with each of my new furry and not so furry friends.
